Nino Cartabellotta, MD, President and Scientific Director of GIMBE Foundation is one of the most distinguished Italian expert in research methodology, evidence-based health care, continuing medical education and professional development, clinical governance, performance evaluation of health services, healthcare management and policy making. He is editor in chief of Evidence, the first methodological open access Italian journal.

In cooperation with the NHS Centre for Evidence-based Medicine di Oxford he institutionalized the “International Conference for Evidence-based Health Care Teachers and Developers”.

He is co-author of “Sicily Statement on Evidence-based Practice”, consensus document on teaching EBP.   He was member of the Steering Committee of the European Union Evidence-based Medicine Unit (EU EBM Unity), a European funded project aimed to standardise EBM teaching. He is co-founder of the International Society of Evidence-Based Health Care.
